Plate heat exchangers are designed to transfer heat between two media separated from each other. Heat transfer in plate heat exchangers is carried out from a hot coolant to a cold (heated) medium through steel corrugated plates that are mounted in a frame and pulled into a package. Liquids in a plate heat exchanger move towards each other. In places where they may overflow, there is either a steel plate or a double rubber seal, which eliminates the mixing of liquids inside the heat exchanger.
